Seeking Certification

Experienced workers who need formal credentials — prepare for FOA CFOT® and ETA installer certifications.

Course Curriculum

Three intensive days combining fiber theory with hands-on lab work. You'll build, test, and troubleshoot real fiber links in our training facility.

Day 1

Fiber Optic Theory & Safety

  • How optical fiber works — light propagation, single-mode vs. multi-mode
  • Fiber cable construction: loose-tube, tight-buffer, ribbon, drop cables
  • Industry color codes and fiber identification standards
  • Fiber optic safety: laser hazards, glass fragment handling, chemical safety
  • Tools of the trade — overview of essential fiber optic tools
Day 2

Connectorization & Splicing Basics

  • Connector types: SC, LC, FC, ST — identification and applications
  • Connector cleaning and inspection procedures
  • Connector termination hands-on lab
  • Introduction to fusion splicing — splicer setup and operation
  • Splice protection and enclosure preparation
Day 3

Testing, Documentation & Certification Exam

  • Optical power meter and light source operation
  • Visual fault locator (VFL) — finding breaks and macro-bends
