MW Operations Specialist Program
Master the critical process of transitioning live fiber optic networks from legacy to new infrastructure. This intensive program covers planning, execution, validation, and emergency rollback procedures used by leading telecom contractors.
Course Curriculum
Five intensive days combining classroom instruction with hands-on lab exercises in our fully-equipped training facility.
Day 1
Cutover Fundamentals & Planning
- Understanding cutover vs. migration vs. rollback
- Risk assessment frameworks for live network transitions
- Stakeholder mapping and communication plans
- Creating cutover runbooks and checklists
- Regulatory and contractual obligations during cutovers
Day 2
Pre-Cutover Preparation
- Parallel network build-out strategies
- Testing and validating new infrastructure before go-live
- Fiber route documentation and labeling standards
- Splice mapping and loss budget verification
- Establishing rollback criteria and procedures
Day 3
Execution — Live Cutover Operations
- Step-by-step cutover execution methodologies
- Real-time monitoring during transition windows
- Coordinating multi-crew simultaneous cutovers
- Managing customer notifications and escalations
- Hands-on lab: simulated live cutover exercise
Day 4
Post-Cutover Validation & Troubleshooting
- End-to-end service verification procedures

- Documentation and as-built record updates

Advanced Scenarios & Certification

Prerequisites
- Basic understanding of fiber optic networks (or PRO FIBER Fundamentals course)
- Experience with fiber fusion splicing
- Familiarity with OTDR and power meter operation
- Minimum 1 year of field experience recommended
Lab Equipment Provided
- Fusion splicers (Fujikura, Sumitomo)
- OTDR test sets (EXFO, VIAVI)
- Optical power meters and light sources
- Full MW/cutover simulation lab environment
- Splice enclosures, patch panels, and routing hardware
